Notre Dame Catholic Academy After-school Clubs

     Notre Dame Catholic Academy offers a variety of extracurricular activities designed to meet the interests of our students.  The Extracurricular Activities Program is an opportunity and a privilege afforded to the students in NDCA.  These programs are available because of the generosity of our faculty members who are willing to dedicate their time and talents to the students of Notre Dame Catholic Academy beyond the hours of the school day.

     Below you will find information for each of the extracurricular activities that we plan to offer during the school year. Please note that some of the programs will be offered on corresponding days and therefore, your child may need to make a choice regarding which activity he/she would like to participate in.  We hope that your child takes advantage of these programs.

     If you have any questions or concerns about any of the activities below, please feel free to reach out to the moderating teacher(s) of the club or activity,  We are requiring a registration fee for each program to hold your child’s place and pay for any administrative needs and/or materials that may be necessary for the program. Separate registration forms will be sent out for each of the clubs.  Please be aware that many of the clubs will have a maximum number of participants, therefore, registration will be on a first come, first served basis.

Math Prep Club

Moderator:      Ms. Munoz

Grade(s):         4th Grade

Meeting Day & Time:  2 Groups – Mondays/Wednesdays 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Registration Fee:  $50

Details:            The Math Prep Club in an afterschool program offered to students in the Fourth grade giving them the opportunity to engage in mathematics in a fun, non-competitive way, but also allowing students to prepare for the New York State Math Exam taking place in May 2018.  The afterschool Math Prep Club registration fee will be used to cover the cost of hands-on math center kits and a practice workbook.  Please note that students who participate in this club will be assigned to a group and attend the club one day only, for example, Group A only meets on Mondays while Group B only meets on Wednesdays. 

Glee Club

Moderators:     Ms. Barresi  & Mrs. Juliano

Grade(s):         1, 2, 3 & 4

Meeting Day & Time: Thursday,  3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Registration Fee:  $25

Details:            A fun and enriching musical experience for grades 1-4.  The Glee Club will perform periodically at school events such as the Thanksgiving Celebration, Christmas Show, and Spring Show.

NDCA Music Ministry

Moderator:      Ms. Wolski

Grade(s):         5, 6, 7 & 8

Meeting Day & Time:  Tuesday, 7:30 a.m. to 8:10 a.m.

Registration Fee:  $20

Details:            NDCA Music Ministry will learn and prepare to be leaders of song for school liturgies and prayer services throughout the year.  Our goal is to fulfill St. Augustine’s motto, “When you sing, you pray twice!”


Drama Club

Moderators:     Mrs. Cooney & Ms. Barressi

Grade(s):         5, 6, 7 & 8

Meeting Day & Time:  Thursday  – 3:00 -4:30p.m.  (Auditions in September, Club begins in October)

Registration Fee:  $50

Details:          The NDCA Drama Club offers students in Grades 5 through 8 the opportunity to be part of a very special club that showcases their talents, creativity, and enthusiasm for the theatre.  The Drama Club has invaluable benefits for the students who work on stage and behind stage.  Working on our productions helps students build their confidence and self-esteem. It creates friendships across grade levels and invests them in our school community in a unique way.

            Although auditions are held for major parts, ALL students are welcome to join as we need students as sound technicians, choreographers, set designers, artists, etc. 

Yearbook Committee

Grade(s):         8

Moderator:      Mrs. Munno

Meeting Day & Time:  Beginning in January – Day/Time will be determined

Registration Fee:  $5

Details:            The Yearbook Committee will meet on a regular basis to complete the Class of 2018 Yearbook.  The committee will collaborate to make key decisions in creating this year’s yearbook.  The committee will need to utilize their computer and technology skills.  They will also learn the importance of organization and meeting deadlines.  Most especially, they will use their talents to create a beautiful yearbook of lasting memories that everyone will enjoy looking at, and that the Class of 2018 will cherish for a lifetime. 

Volleyball Team

Moderators:     Ms. Barresi, Mrs. Munno & Mrs. Preiss

Grade(s):         7 & 8

Meeting Day & Time:  Beginning in January – Wednesdays, 3:15 p.m. – 4:15 p.m.

Registration Fee:  $20

Details:            The Volleyball Team will learn the skills needed to play the game of volleyball including serving, passing, and hitting the ball over the net.  It is a great physical activity for the students because it strengthens the upper and lower body.  It also improves cardiovascular and respiratory systems.  It is a beneficial and healthy way for the children to stay in shape and have fun.  Our goal is to teach the fundamentals of the game, but also the importance of working as a team.  Team members must value and respect their fellow team members.  It is a cooperative effort whereby the students will learn patience, persistence, and confidence.  Whether they win or lose, it’s the importance of working together towards a common goal that matters most.


Beautiful Me Program

Moderators:     Mrs. Myers & Ms. Baldassarre

Grade(s):  Girls Only –  First Workshop is for 4th Grade Girls

Meeting Day & Time:  First Workshop will meet on October 12th, 19th and 26th, from 3:00 p.m. -4:00 p.m.

Registration Fee:  $5

Details:            Beautiful Me is a girls only self-esteem workshop.  It is a “nationally-known platform for females of all ages.”  According to Beautiful Me, “The purpose of this program is to teach females how to think positively and with assurance about their bodies, their skills, and their relationships with others.”   The workshop sessions are done over three consecutive weeks for one hour each session.  Groups are created according to age.  A student should only register for this program is she can commit to all three sessions.  The workshops are curriculum-based and each one has a different activity.  All participants receive a special gift on the last session.  Each grade level will be informed before their three week session so they can plan accordingly.
